After Treatment

My sister had her last chemo treatment for nonHodgkins lymphoma at the end of Jan and the doctor told her she would feel well in a few weeks.  But she has just become weaker and weaker and losing weight and has no apetite.  Her blood work showed no lymphoma a few days ago the doctor said but he called her that evening and scheduled another cat scan. Don't know the results yet.

Has anyone had this experience where they still felt so sick months after chemo?  She can't sleep in a bed, she sleeps in a recliner.  I had chemo for breast cancer and it was nothing compared to what she is going through.  She has very low energy.  Also has a lot of stress in her home with a grown son not working and living with her expecting her to take care of him.  I have been urging her to take care of herself first now.  She is 72 years old.

Hello!

I just wanted to say that your sister is not alone. I had Bexxar for NHL in October last year and I am still suffering from severe fatigue. I am on synthroid 125 daily. My blood work looks good, too. But I definitely don't feel good. I read an article recently about how they don't know much about the lasting side effects from cancer treatments. Survivors are living so much longer than even 10 years ago and there are new studies to research long term side effects. Years ago patients didn't even live long enough to do such studies.

Tell your sister to continue to convey to the dr how horribly she is feeling. And to push him/her for some answers. I go to onc Monday and I have quite a few questions/concerns to discuss with him.

I will be thinking and praying for your sister. Take care of her and yourself.

Best wishes,

Pam

My sister got the results of her cat scan this morning and it wasn't good.  It showed lymphoma in the lymph nodes deep in her body.  She will have more chemo next week that the dr. said will make her very sick and she won't be able to do anything. She is already so thin and weak.  Please has anybody survived lymphoma that's gotten this bad??

You have to keep your spirits up and your Sister's, My Mother has lymphoma, she had her last chemo in January, and lost my Father, her Husband of 56 years on Christmas morning, two weeks after that she ended up with an infection that landed her in intensive care for 2 weeks, she passed away twice and they brought her back, we said plenty of prayers for her and they worked, the Dr. told her she dodged a death bullet.

I myself am battling thyroid cancer, Try to stay positive, My Mother is still weak, but she takes it day by day.

I will keep her and you in my prayers!

God Bless!
