Ever hear about a monthly (mailed) newsletter called "Conversations". If you have or had ovarian cancer you might want to look into this. I heard about it a year and a half ago and have been receiving the newsletter ever since then.

"Conversations" was started by Cindy Melancon, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1992 and was told that she had only six months to live. Well, Cindy survived and started "Conversations" just a few years after her diagnosis -- and through her dedication to helping others like herself her newsletter began to reach women with ovarian cancer not only in the US but throughout the world.

In the July edition of "Conversations" I found out that Cindy passed away on June 4, 2003. However, her husband, Don, and her daughter, Angel, are going to do their best to continue on with Cindy's dream of helping others.

The July issue has close to 9 pages of letters from ovarian cancer "survivors," and they are all wonderful and inspiring. In the June issue the main topic was about neuropathy -- and ways to deal with it.

All in all, I can't begin to tell you how informational and supportive "Conversations" has been to me! And since I rarely meet other women who have ovarian cancer, this has been a Godsend.

It you'd like to see their website go to: http://www.ovarian-news.org.

Love you all!

Hi there Oby, Jan here. Got your nice e-mail my friend and read your post here on the board. Yes I knew Cindy somewhat, and I too get Conversations and get a lot from it for sure. I am glad to hear your hanging in there with all. I am lucky so far. No recurrence to date. I was only given a few months back in late 1996 but the chemo did its job on everything pretty well. I am very thankful. I go on a couple of ovarian support sites but if you are interested in starting a new one I am all for it my friend. I enjoy giving and getting the support as I feel we are all sisters in this struggle with OVAC. Please keep in touch with me and we will go forth okay? Boy! The money involved with those injections huh? Wow! Talk soon okay? Hugs to you and be well my friend...Jan

Hi,
I would like my sister to get a copy of Conversations, how can I subscribe? She needs much encouragement and hope since her cancer has returned to her lymph node. It would also help me. Is there a fee? Thank you for the info and I am so happy to hear you are doing well.

Hi, just read your message and I'm happy to reply. You can get on the mailing list one of two ways. The email address is: OVCANEWS@aol.com. The web site is:
http://www.ovarian-news.org

Try their web site first, as I'm sure it will give you the information you need. I'm also sure that you will appreciate the information and support needed from their monthly newsletter.

There is no fee -- however, since this is 'home based,' they always welcome and need any donations they receive. Doesn't need to be much --

Enjoy!

Love you
