Hi
My name's Renee I haven't talked to anyone else going through the same thing yet and thought I'd post.
I'm 28 and my mom is 62 and got diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma early this summer. They attempted a resection but they too also found it metastasized (to her lymph nodes) so they couldn't go ahead with the resection. After healing from the attempted surgery, she underwent intensive chemo and radiation therapy, followed by home infusion therapy with the carry around pack. She tolerated the drugs well at first, but she felt really weak and sick from it when it got to all be in her system. Then they gave her a month off after she finished her treatmentand she was fine. I also noticed she's dropped a lot of weight and sticks to jello and soup and things that don't upset her stomach. Just last week she went into the hospital to get an internal/external tube put in to prepare for brachytherapy (a radioactive seed) on Dec. 27th. You have to bring home syringes and cleanse/flush the thing every day with saline solution and the tube is leaking so she may have to go back in to have it fixed - it's just a lot more to deal with then I ever expected. I guess I'm just venting. I am in the suburbs of Philadelphia and my mom is doing her treatment at UPenn.
