RE: Results of leep...I have early cancer

Hi Cindy,I'm sorry to hear of your diognosis. I have a leep scheduled next week after my colposcopy came back HGSIL. I was just wondering what led to your diagnosis? Did you first have an abnormal pap? I'm worried that the leep will tell me I have cervical cancer. Any info will be greatly appreciated. (Boston's awesome- I'm a Mainer!)

Thank you SydsMom. I used to live in Boston but now in the DC area. I have a list of questions for the second opinion appt mainly with after options (is there chemo/radiation) and what other tests can be performed now to see if this is "it".

Glad you got the results back and now you can move onto taking some action. It's clear from your name that you follow the Red Sox, but it's unclear whether or not you live in the Boston area. If you do, please consider a second opinion and getting treated at Brigham & Women's/Dana-Farber. My experience there was great. I didn't have surgery, but all the personnel made the situation a lot less scary. Good luck.

Results of leep...I have early cancer

Just wanted to post that I got my results and I have a small, 2mm tumor. Wow, hearing tumor and you in the same breath is frightening, writing it here is scary too. He says the pathology report shows no lymph or blood vessel involvement. He recommends a vaginal hysterectomy. I did call a gyn/onc and get an appointment for a second opinion to make sure that is the proper course of treatment. I don't think there is any radiation/chemo involved. Most of my questions involve other diagnostic tests. He seems to think that if he takes out the cervix and uterus it will all be gotten but I of course want more assuranace than that! By the way, I am also HPV negative. Thank you for those that post here, it has helped me be a much more informed patient. I know there are others with way worse diagnosis, but it helps to have a place to go to "talk". Good luck to all of you with cone/leep's and those awating results. Cindy
