my father

My father has been battling metastatic melanoma for 3 years. He is losing the battle. In October, 2008, he was given 6-12 months to live. About 2 weeks ago, he was given 6 weeks and they are about to bring in hospice. I don't quite know what to expect because my dad is still alert and eating and moving around, he is just drowning and suffocating slowly cause the tumors are in his lungs. What can I expect in the next weeks or months? He is in alot of pain. Not from the tumors, but from where he has had a lot of surgeries on his neck. He is on pain meds 24/7. Can someone please help that has had to deal with something like this? I would really appreciate it.
