My father has multiple nodular melanoma sits on his scalp that have grown from small tumors to ones over 5 cm. A biopsy indicated thicknesses as much as 4 mm. He is 81 and is losing his memory fast. We tried surgery when first detected but new sites popped up within a week of the procedure. Tumors grew from small to 5 cm in 45 days. Tried experimental treatment but side effects were too much for him to enjoy life. Pet scans reveal no metastasis beyond head area. We came to the conclusion that treatment is not a good option given his age, memory loss and other physical issues.
Questions: any ideas how long he might have? what might we expect regarding metastasis and pain etc.
