Hi,

My husband is in the same boat.  He just turned 49 and was having difficulty swallowing,  The Doc's were sure it was achalasia and on june 4th he was scheduled for a Heller Myotomy.  During surgery, they pulled out due to blockage.  After biopsy, the found stage IVB esophageal cancer.  never smoked and ran 6 days a week.  He couldn't swallow foods as well and was rapidly losing weight.  We had a J peg feeding tube placed in immediately and what a god send.  Now I know he is getting 3000 calories per day and I push thru atleast 5 to 6 cups of water in daily.  Helps me ease my mind to know he is getting his nutrition by Nutren 2.0. Before the tube I had him on ensure, boost, and home made soup I put thru the blender.  Took him hours to get in down but atleast it was hydrating him.  Also dont for get the popsicles.
