My dad went to body check last week, and they drained my dad's blood. Yesterday, doctor said my dad's PSA is 12. And he mentioned my dad has 64% has prostate cancer. Now they helping my dad to apply for other tests. So that's mean he is not disgonsed yet. I read some articles that said pomegranate juice help to decrease the PSA level. But is it only good for the patients after surgey? How about watchful waiting patient? or some other people who want to prevent prostate cancer? Because i saw one article is said "Although pomegranate juice is generally safe, it may affect the metabolism of certain prescription medications."... But this Pomengranate juice clincial trials were done by UCLA and also Harvert's website mention the pomegranate juice can slow the cancer cell.

I am wondering is any patients who did drank pomegranate juice and really help? because i want to let my dad drink the V8 Pomegranate juice. My mom disgonsed lung cancer on April 2009, i am so worry about dad now...i feeling god going to leave us...

I have used pomegrante extract that doesn't have the sugar that weakens the results. I have advanced prostate cancer and its part of my treatment. I only use a holistic treatment and its been successfull for 3 years. As far as your statement saying it only works on people that had surgery is incorrect. It has helped people during watchful waiting in reducing PSA numbers. If you would like more informatiom please visit my web site at

Pomegranite extract pills are much cheaper than pommegranite juice. They can be found on Life Extension's web site. Pomegranite may slow the growth of PC and it won't hurt you like some other supplements. Watchful waiting is not appropriate in your case as a psa of 12 needs immediate attention,

Extract and capsules are much cheaper and lack both the sugar and the calories.

Pomergranite DOES NOT mix well with statin drugs (used for the control of cholesteral). Otherwise it is very safe.

Hi Badmamazoo yes your right I remember  reading  that Rosuvastatin a drug used to treat high cholesterol and related conditions, and to prevent cardiovascular disease. belongs to a group of medicines called HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, or ‘statins’.

I also remember  an other one that reacks with statins drugs is Grapefruit juice, it is known to increase the risk of statin-induced myopathy, but up until now, there was little information about whether pomegranate juice might also increase the risk.

Pomegranate juice and also grapefuit juice, are both known to block the cytochrome P450 3A4 enzyme systems in the intestines. By inhibiting these enzymes, the juices may increase blood levels of many medications. but there are foods that beat statin drugs for lowing high cholesterol any way.

This artical and link is from Nateral News.com

http://www.naturalnews.com/008310.html

A recent study published in the "American Journal of Clinical Nutrition" shows that eating certain foods can lower your cholesterol levels just as well as taking statin drugs. This is the second study we've seen revealing that certain foods are as effective, or even more effective, than prescription drugs in regulating biochemical markers such as cholesterol levels or in treating conditions such as chronic depression. In this particular study, researchers found that foods such as soy protein, tofu, various other soy products, plus almonds and cereal fiber, as well as plant sterols, can lower total cholesterol and especially LDL cholesterol, better than statin drugs.

Once again, this is no surprise at all to nutritionists. We have known for a long time that if you want to have healthy biochemistry and healthy cholesterol levels, you have to turn to natural foods and adopt the strategies of natural health. We've also known that drugs are all but worthless compared to the healing power of foods.

If you want to be healthy, you have to give up the standard foods available in America, such as processed and manufactured foods, and replace them with natural whole foods such as nuts and whole grains, fruits and vegetables, and then supplement your diet with nutritional supplements and superfoods. If you do that, you're going to have greatly enhanced cardiovascular health, and you're going to have normal cholesterol levels. It's basic cause and effect. This follows the laws of biochemistry: if you eat the right foods, you can't help but to have healthy cholesterol levels.

As you probably know, I've put my own statistics out there as an example for quite some time. Using nothing but healing foods and nutritional supplements combined with regular exercise and frequent doses of natural sunlight, I've been able to achieve a total cholesterol level of 129, with an LDL level of 67 and an HDL level of 62. If you ask any cardiologist, he or she will tell you that these are phenomenal numbers - that a person who shows this ratio of HDL to LDL cholesterol has a near-zero chance of having a heart attack or suffering from cardiovascular disease. The point is, I got there by eating natural and super foods, relying on nutrition and physical exercise while avoiding all drugs. I take no drugs whatsoever. No over-the-counter, prescriptions nor recreational drugs, including alcohol and caffeine. There are no drugs in my system -- only good nutrition. Once you start doing that, your cholesterol will achieve very similar numbers to what I'm showing. It's natural cause and effect. It doesn't mean you'll have the exact same numbers, but they will definitely improve.
