Prostate Cancer and the Law

Does anyone know if you can go on disability or workmans comp if you are on Lupron for Prostate cancer? The side effects are tough to deal with  at work, my work suffers. I manage a large computer network.

In order to go on disabilty you usually need your doctor to state you are unable to work and your employer, these are they requirements for private insurers, such as your group disabilty, and privately owned disability in the USA. As far as govenment disabily you have to be off work for 6 months and they automatically decline the first request and you need to reapply with an attorney. you may want to check with your employer to find out the waiting period before they will pay the benefit.

 I also was on lupron( I had one 3 month injection and never had another) and found the side effects very nasty to live with. Today I treat my cancer with holistic treatment and it has been successful for 3 years.

If you could convince your doctor to go along with it you have a good chance to collect from the insurance company.

It would be better to go on short term disability from your employer. However you may only get 60% of your salary. It depends on your ins. The long term from social securiy would take 6 months but if you are sich enough you may not need to appeal. A lot depends on your age. Also you could not get medicare for 2 years. You would have to pay your health insurance if your employer won't cover you for the time you are out. SS is a better answer if you will never be able to go back to work. IF you can talk to someone in HR from your company they can help you out.

I have Advance prostrate cancer quite a few of us on cancer compass treat it wiith holistic Alterative treatment I got over bone met this way it works realy well for us I feel better now then I have for years. In Australia to go on sickness benefits you need a report from your doctor. The minim wages here are about $1000.00 per fortnight. Sickness benefits pay about $470 per fortnight, but  because Im on a disabilty penion from my goviment I get $ 490 per fortnight but Ill be going offf this sone as Im lookin for ward to doing back to work again cheers Ray
