Hi Everyone,

My husband is going for  a BMB on July 9th. We will get the results July 16th to see if he is ready for A SCT.

My question is : Do you have to be in complete remission of the MM before you can have the SCT?

Thanks for the support.

Dana

Good Morning Dana;

Do you have to be in complete remission of the MM before you can have the SCT?

I don't believe so. But you should try to get your cancer numbers down as low as possible. This first harvest is the best you're going to get.

Also, the norm is to only take enough for 2. I had 3 taken. One poster on here had 4. It's only additional time sitting around with needles in your arms. Take enough for future transplants.

Much has been written here about SCT. Do your research and write down your questions for your doc. And don't let them pressure you into rushing into this.

Take care;

Kevin

For my husband they wanted to get the numbers as low as possible. The SCT  itself is very quick. It is the prechemo and post SCT that takes time. My husband has been out of the hospital since April and is leading a full life. When he first came home he could bearly walk to the bathroom ...Now he can walk around the block.

Give it time you will get through. Don't forget to enjoy life on the way............

Hey Linda,

  My husband is heading down the path of a transplant, but first he needs to be treated and get the cancer burden under control.  As he faces what  is ahead, it is good to know that others have done it successfully.  Keep us posted on his progress.  Anita

I don't see anything on Randy's bloodwork about his m-spike.

Thanks Dana
