Hello

My mom has luekemia and they are giving her Relimid since April 2009, the med. is working ok but when my mom takes it for more then 3 weeks she breaks out in a horrible rash and itching from head to toe and she has to stop take medication till it clears which can take another 3 weeks. Her doctor tells her to take Benadryl 4xs a day and he did prescribe an anti-itch cream but they really don't help.  Any suggestion would be appreciated.  Thank you concern daughter

I had a simliar issue when first placed on Thalidomide...basically the same drug as Revlimid (sister drugs).  It took a couple of months before the rash stopped returning.  When I switched over to Revlimid later in my treatment, due to other side-effects from the Thal, I didn't experience a rash sequence again.  I think your doc is on the right track.  However, if it doesn't go away soon, the doc might need to consider something else...or a lighter dose of Revlimid.  btw, I was on 10mg per day of Rev for 21 days with 7 days off before begining each 28-day cycle.

Hope it all works out

I failed to mention, I have Myeloma so dosing might be different.

Thank you so much for respond, I will talk to her doc. next week and that sounds like a good idea to take it for the 21 days and stop for a week because it can give her body rest from such a strong drug, she is taking only 10 mg he did start with 25 mg. Thank you
