RE: Possibly have lymphoma, but my doctor won't tell me anything

Ok folks. Help point me in the right direction. A little background. I lost my 44 y.o. husband December 2008 to follicular non-hodgkins lymphoma after a 10 month battle. His cancer, stage 4, was diagnosed via a routine chest x-ray which showed a retroperitoneal lymphnode. During the entire time, he NEVER had a palpable lymph node.My brother-in-law (sister's husband) has two swollen masses above his collar bone (one 4.3 cm and one 4.5 cm). FNA show probable lipomas. The left mass is larger than the right, but both are growing weekly. Occasional difficulties swallowing, otherwise no symptoms. 50 y.o. male. CT showed no other masses throughout the chest and pelvic region.I don't want to be a hypochrondriac, but I think he should pursue this further instead of settling with a poss. lipoma diagnosis, especially since they are growing weekly. Thanks for your opinions. This board was invaluable during my husband's fight.

RE: Possibly have lymphoma, but my doctor won't tell me anything

Hi,I had massive swelling along my shoulder, not really my neck. My primary care dr flipped out and did an x-ray right then. She made appt for surgeon right away to do lymph node biopsy. Results were supposed to take 2 weeks. I got the results 2 days later, 05-01-08. It was lymphoma. Went to onc 3 days later. Everything moved so quickly. It was a blur.Had my port surgery, started chemo (3 rounds with fludara, novantrone, dexamethasone, neulasta, and Rituxan). Had Bexxar October 2008. Close to remission now. Waiting for next PET scan in Sept. I never did loose all of my hair. Mine is Non-Hodgkins B-cell, Stage III at dx. 3rd round of chemo really kicked my butt. And Bexxar was quite a challenge, but I am here and doing pretty good. I take each day as it comes. Some days are awesome, others are the pits.Non-Hodgkins is not curable, but can be manageable. I will be thinking of you as you wait on further tests. A biopsy is the only way to be 100% sure if it is cancer. Best wishes and God bless,Pam

Possibly have lymphoma, but my doctor won't tell me anything

I found a lump in my neck in early April of 2009 that has since been growing and is currently about 3/4inch long and 1/2inch wide. The odd thing about the lump is that it's always changing. Sometimes it's rock hard, sometimes it's softer, it's size varies as well as how much it can move around in my neck when i'm trying to find it. I went to the drop in clinic where I was told to go to the radiology clinic for an ultrasound. So I did and had a follow up appointment with my family doctor who isn't allowed to tell me anything but I read on the radiology report (that he is subtly trying to block from my sight) that a possibility is lymphoma. My doctor sends me for chest x-ray and a blood test and if these show something suspicious then I will need a biopsy on the lump. I haven't heard anything of these tests. I was called by my doctor's office and told I have an appointment at a certain address at a given time. I wasn't told what the appointment is for or who the doctor I am seeing is. I am assuming this is my biopsy, but I'm tired of not being informed of what this lump could be, and since my blood test I have found three more lumps, one really small one just above the first, and two in the same positions on the opposite side of my neck that are medium sized. I'm really stressing about this and wondering: what could all these factors mean: the tests, the new lumps,
