My mother was diognosed on Feb 14th with Stomach and esphstogus cancer.  Drs said it was already in her small Lymph nodes....

I moved from WA to AZ to be with her and help her as much as I can....

She seems to be fine - She doesn't want to talk about it at all - Says God will heal her - As I too want to believe this with all my heart - she has opted not to have chemo or radiation treatments and can not be operated on nor does she want that....  with in the last two weeks she's had a blood trans fussion, two  vit b 12 shots and start breaking out in sweats at night and durning the day - her upper arms are very itchy - from what I can read it seems like the time is closer and closer for her to pass away...  I really want some straight forward answers what do you know and what do I need to watch for ...  as well as how do I get her to talk about it????

 Thank you so much -

Hello my father has gastric cancer, he is 82 and my brother died from in in 4 months time. he was 50. I feel so sad for you I know its so hard.

My dad is still doing pretty good he has it for 31/2 yrs. went on a whole natural program no chemo no radi no surgery

now today they said it was double in size his mass and not good.

i am wright to ttell you my brother went fast in 4 months. the constipation was the worst. He could not even sip from a straw. He died actually of starvation malnutrition. the stomach wont ebsorb anymore. except her to go soon. it sounds to honest. it is a painful and a horable death. I am sending a hug and hopefully it will be fast so she doesnt suffer.

The espahagus is blocked and it wont be long as you said. take care of you and say everything and anything with your mom. Talk for her if she wont. blessings as you go through this together.

Call a local hospice.  They are wonderful.  They will initiate the conversations both with you and with her.  They will help with pain and will tell you how to handle the end.  Hospice is there for the last year of life, but is often called in within days of death (as with my mother).  But either way, they are the most compassionate and understanding people.

Hospice is covered by insurance and by medicare in most states.  They send RNs to your home to evaluate and help.   It is worth it for your sanity and her dignity.

Don't do this alone!  We are never prepared to handle death, call experts.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

 Marybeth
