I recently found out that my mother has adenocarcinoma is her R lung. It had spread to her bone (femur) and this is how we found it. She was having a lot of pain in her leg. We assumed it was from where she fell last winter. It is NSCLC, they have put her in stage 4 with only 2 years. She has started her chemo using 3 different agents. Some of which I saw others were using as well. I do not remember the names I know they start with an A, C, & T! I am going to school right now for my RN and have 2 kids. I am ssooo stressed out about all of this. I just do not know what to do to help her. I try to make it over to help when I can and go to her appts with her. I live an hour away so I can not just go when I want to. I am staying positive and hoping the timeframe is wrong. I do not if she is willing to quit work to go to a cancer center or not. I am so afraid to ask certain things, but on the other hand I hate not to.
If you have an advice I would love to hear it.
Thanks
Sara
Hi Sara:
Pain the the leg could due to the cancer spread and it hit on some nervve area? Is it both legs? If it is not, be careful she might contract a shingle soon. watch out any red spots / blister on her leg.
Make sure ur mom eat healthy nourished food. Eat plenty berry family fruits. Drink plenty green tea with matcha ingredient. Ginger helps naseau, turemic help cancer. Dark chocolate to help heart stroke. eat many meals per day instead one large. Consume one yogurt per day. Eat more fish than red meat. Consume more veggie than rice / bread, dark color veggie would help control cancer. Take vitamin every day. Watch out her fatigue due to run low electrolytes and red blood cells, etc.
Best wishes,
Vic
My mom is in her early 50's. She went to the dr for the pain in her R leg. After about 6 months they finally did a scan of her hip. They had only done a scan of her lower back at that point. That is when they found the first tumor. It was on the truncater of the superior portion of the femur. it had gone through 50% of the bone. We were told it was NOT the primary source. She had surgery to remove that tumor and found it was coming from the lung. We already knew she had a mass in the lung, but the Pulmanologist told us he thought it was a secondary source as well. She has NEVER smoked a day in her life, nor did her husband. We have a strong line of cancer on that side of the family.
We did look up some foods that would be best for her to eat. She is staying really positive, so that helps a lot. I do not know what I will do with out her. I try to stay positive, but it is hard not to think the reality of all of this. She has already had the radiation on her leg, so that is done. She did have two other small areas show up on the PET CTscan. The dr said the chemo should take care of those. She has her 2nd appt at the end of the month. They are going to another CT to check the tumor in the lung.
Thx for all the info!
