GCT are very rare. 1st line of treatment is surgery. chemo is resevered for reoccourance.  GCT can return at any time some do not return for decades The most implrtant things are  be sure your doc has experience with GCT, follow ups every 2-3 for 2 yrs (inhibina levels and Ct scan as needed) the if no re occurance every 4-6 months after 5 yrs once a yr Don't let any one tell you that you are cured of this. There is a documented case of re occurances after 37 years!!

This is a slow growing cancer and with good follow up you should be able to keep ahead of it.

There is very little documentation on the succes of chemo since it is rare and re occurance can happen so late.

New research has isolated a gene mutation in all GCT So heres hoping they will be able to develope treatment to stop the mutation therefore cure the diease

Hi,

Ditto on the other person's message.  I've heard a few times...if you had to have cancer, this is the one to 'get'.

Wow. I can not believe they caught it this early! Just to let you know my mother was diagnosed with GCT 8 years ago. Unfortunately she went to an UNEXPERIENCED surgeon who did a 'microscopic' surgery on her.  By not opening her up and taking out the ovary like normal they spread it to her ENTIRE ABDOMEN. Now she is having surgery every two years to remove tumors that are the size of baseballs or larger. The last tumor they removed was crushing her kidneys and was the size of a football.  This cancer is very very aggressive.  Please please research you doctor. GO TO A DOCTOR THAT HAS EXPERIENCE WITH THIS CANCER.  Go to Mayo clinic or the cancer clininic in Texas! This is not a cancer to be taken lightly....also include a new diet.  These cancers feed on sugar and milk..yes milk.  The extra estrogens provided in ALL milk will cause the tumors to grow.  Some of the things I have researched on this are not found in studies but have been documented in many cases. Please please look at diet, your period, a good doctor, and a surgeon.  I hope you nothing but the very best.
