Went to have a mammogram. the findings were There is a well circumscribed hypoechoic mass that contains some low level internal echoes. Most likely represents a debris filled cyst. a 6 month follow up ultrasound is recommended in order to ensure the stability of this finding. It's been 6 months go for the ultrasound Thursday. does anyone have any comments on this of being cancer. I'm a new member and would apprecate any emput. thanks

I don't feel qualified to answer your question although I don't believe they would have you wait 6 months if they thought it was cancer at this point.  I would recommend that you ask your doctor to review the results and explain the situation in more detail.  I had a cyst 10 years ago which was not cancer.  I was told that cysts are fluid filled and are not cancer.  In Feb. 09 I was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer and the radiologist said when he did the ultrasound that he was concerned because it was definately not a cyst.  I went on to have a biopsy which showed invasive cancer.

You have the right to a complete explanation of the situation as well as the risk.  Your doctor should do that or you should get a better doctor.

Good luck.

The fact that they waited 6 months seems to be pretty good evidence that the docs don't believe it is cancer.  However, that being said, the only way to really know is to biopsy the lesion.  So you have a decision to make; insist that the docs do a biopsy or take their word for what the lesion is.  Of course, it is your life and if it is cancer and they miss it, you are the one who will have to live with it, not the docs.

Good luck in making your decision.

I agree with Roseann and Joan L,  I am living because I knew my lump did not feel right eventhough all the doctors said it was not cancer.  Finally, a breast surgeon ordered a breast MRI.  It was stage 2 cancer, but I am in remission now and doing well.  I believe you need to explore any possibility that you might have this disease.

All the best to you.
