targeted therapy for recurrent endometrial CA

After 6 rounds of taxol/carboplatin, my CA has returned after 8 months.  My doctor is now taking biopsies for molecular testing to see if there is a response to one of the new targeted drugs.  Anyone out there on one of these newer drugs?  Any info appreciated.

Hi Mimi,

I have a recurrance also.   I was on Avastin and Gemzar which worked really well for 5 months and then had to switch to Avastin and Taxol due to a new tumor in the abdominal fat.   I had gone for a second opinion and their choice was Avastin and a pill form of cytoxan.   I tried one of the hormonals but that did not work at all.    Have you tried a second opinion?   My insurance paid for it.  GL to you!

I hope your drug(s) are working for you. Would you kindly tell me what they are?

I have a recurrence of almost 5 years now.  Current therapy is Topotecan.  Have seen a slight drop in CA125 but too early for a CT to tell the real story.

Previously was on carboplatin and toxol for about 3 months only to learn I was highly allergic to carboplatin and the drugs were not working.

Prior to that, Gemzar, which worked well for a long time.  Early side effects with my feet were a challenge but they diminished.

Good luck in the fight.

I have just started Gemzar/Carbo and we will add Avastin.  We are currently fighting insurance because, although it is covered for Ovarian CA, it isn't for recurrent endometrial!  Unbelieveable!  Ovarian Cancers are more and more using Avastin not only in combo with the above, but also used as a long term "maintenance" (sometimes with Doxil or others) regimen.  Mimi
