On July 9th, 2009 I underwent the HIFU-Procedure at Sloan-Kettering. I am very pleased with my progress. I will keep all informed.I started a journal about a month ago.I hope that I will be able to help those who are considering HIFU-Ablatherm Procedure.

Fantantastic!

I had the Sonablate, really there's very little difference, either machine in good hands is what we need!!!

Have you clamped off and started to urinate normally??

Are you taking all the cautionery drugs that I took--Detrol, Flomax, Cialis and Cipro?

Cialis to keep the blood flowing.  For a month.

Detrol until the catheter comes out to keep the bladder from spasming to get rid of the catheter.

Flomax to relax the spincter.  For a month.

Cipro for infection, for a week.

Do you have a supra pubic catheter?

It's just plum wonderful to go to the hospital with cancer and walk out perfectly fine a couple hours later.....well....dealing with the catheter is awful, my patience level was the pits, but looking back, man am I happy I had HIFU!

Congratulations on being able to join the trial.  How many guys do they have?

I greatly appreciate all the input on Ablatherm and Sonablate 500.  Based on my research, I think I would opt for the Sonablate.  While I don't yet have a prostate cancer, I figure I have a ticking time-bomb and if I live long enough I will eventually get the disease.

I've read that the Sonablate, so far has a lesser recurrence rate than the Ablatherm.

In a private message I was accused of sounding like a marketer.  Please accept my apology.   I'm not connected with HIFU, Sonablate, Depends, or Viagra.

Am  70 years old, retired, and healthy (knock on wood).. Like most of us, I  have loved ones with cancer and have lost friends and relatives to cancer, including prostate cancer.

My friend's husband underwent Sonablate treatment within the past year and has now resumed his hobby of mountain climbing.

Some people apparently cannot conceive of uncompensated enthusiasm.
