Question for new posters

From Anna,

Hi al, Have a question for the new posters.  Recently we've had some new posters. There is a question I forgot to ask you all.  How did they find the MM for you or your family members or friends?  Dad's first big sign that something was wrong was nose bleeds. I've not found many with this system. He was also having some bone pain that before he was told, he thought he had arthritis.  I've heard some here mention this one.  He also had pnuemonia 4 times in 2 years.  This was man that used to never get sick.

Your friend,

Anna

Hi Anna,

I think I am the only one on the forum that has the bleeding condition from my m-protein . That is what got me to the doctors! and bone pain, low grade fevers, night sweats, wounds that take long time to heal, chronic infections.. Still have all the same symptoms

Hi Anna,

I was diagnosed from a blood test at a neurologists office. I had neuropathy, balance and leg pain problems for about 6 or 7 years. I finally demanded that my GP send me to a neurologist. Even after the results came in the GP did not tell me, he said there were no problems on the blood tests. On my follow up to the neurologist 4 months later they tested me again and reffered me to an oncologist. I fired the GP!

Hi Anna,

Yes, nose bleeds, bruising and cuts that heal slow. Had bad internal bleeding in 2001 of unknown origin. Had to have a transfusion.

From Anna,

Hi Majolica, Dad had some many nose bleeds it overworked his heart and his GP thought he was having a heart attack.  That's when Mom said its time to find out what's going on.  He'd had his nose cortized several times before this.  The Dr. had recently told him before this supposed heart attack that he couldn't cortize it any more.  Mom had only told one of her sisters about the nose bleeds.  Dad didn't like that.  He's a pretty private man.  When he was in the emergency room the day they thought he was having the heart attack but realized how low his red count was (It was 6 and 14 to 18 is normal) she called me and told me to call our preacher to see if the church was part of the medic drive.  It wasn't but I told her I would have to tell her what was going on. She said ok. She also said something that surprised me.  She said Dad was afraid.  I asked how she knew? She said she could see it in his eyes.  I'd never seen him show fear.  I have seen then though.

 Anna

For me, misdiagnosed for many years. Was always told it was muslces, so they would always give me pills and I also was doing physical therapy until one time I told the lady to stop. That Saturday night I told my husband I am going to the Emergency Room and I am not leaving until someone figures out what was wrong with me because the pain in my back was horrible! Four hours later I was told I had 1 of 2 cancers to go find the best oncologist and so I did. Was dx 2/08, stage 3, anemic, hyper-calcium, multiple leisons and damage to the spine.

From Anna,

Hi Judy, Welcome to the group.  How many years was it for you before you found out what you had?
