My mother (age 72 ) had esophageal cancer 4 years ago, she underwent both radiation and chemotherapy, with a feeding tube. She had 4 years without signs of cancer. Last February she went in for a routine CAT scan, there were 2 tumors.  At the same time she became horse.  One of the tumors was pressing against a vocal cord.  The needle biopsies diagnosis was "Metastatic poorly differentiated neuroendocrine carcinoma" stage IV.  Her doctor believes this is the esophageal cancer returning.  She cannot have anymore radiation in her neck area.  Right now she is taking chemo 3 days every 21 days (cisplatin and etoposide) .  Does anyone know of other treatments out there.  There is very little info on neuroendcrine cancer.
