Bone Marrow Bx Today

Hello. I met with my hematologist/oncologist  for the first time yesterday and she was great at explaining my lab work.  I am scheduled for a Bone Marrow Bx this morning to try to determine where i am on this journey.

 I have a sense of calm about the test.  I am blessed with a strong faith to carry me through the storms.

Thanks to all who post on this board because it has helped me to know that i am not alone.

Good Morning Carwv;

I am scheduled for a Bone Marrow Bx this morning to try to determine where I am on this journey.

There's more to this journey than just a BMB. Have a full battery of tests performed and ask for a copy of everything.

I have a sense of calm about the test.  I am blessed with a strong faith to carry me through the storms.

The test isn't as bad as you may have heard. I'm a big sissy and I don't cry anymore. If you want something neat to show the (grand)kids, ask for the aspirate needle. It's pretty impressive. But besides that, going into the test calm and positive will serve you well.

Thanks to all who post on this board because it has helped me to know that I am not alone

NO YOU ARE NOT! Welcome, you're only a stranger here once!

KC

Nice initials. I like you already!

Good luck today, and hope to hear from you again.

Take care;

Kevin

From Anna,

Hi Carvw, Welcome to the group.  How did they find you had MM?  Dad had nose bleeds but pneuomonia 4 times in 2 years and had bone pain which he thought was arthritis.

Anna

Kevin, thanks for your response.

The biopsy went smooth.  I asked not to be sedated and i did fine.  The student nurse in the room said my heart rate on the monitor never went up during the test.  It's been 6 hours since then and i just have a dull ache in my iliac crest.  I went in to my office after the test and worked a little. I plan to help with Vacation Bible School this evening.  The M.D. said no restrictions.

I have kept copies of all of my tests to date.  That's a great idea, especially if a person has more than one physician.  Can help to prevent duplication of the same test being re-ordered.

I'll know my results Tues.

Anna,

I appreciate your reply.  I am in the diagnoses process.  I have been having nose bleeds and pelvic pain.  My physician thinks i'm somewhere between MGUS and MM.  The Bx will help with the DX.  I also have a pelvic MRI scheduled.  I hope your father is doing well.

Take Care.

Good Evening Carwv;

Kevin, thanks for your response.

You are quite welcome.

The biopsy went smooth.  I asked not to be sedated and I did fine.

Good. But did you get the needle? It's a great conversation starter when sitting at the bar. Or later when you have to fight your way out!

I'll know my results Tues.

Hope you'll come back and share them with us.

Take care;

Kevin

KC,

I hope you can get answers and just know we are always here with ideas, like asking for the needle!! I am having a stem cell transplant in sept and am having a BMB Aug 5th ao will ask for the needle! Right now the hubby and I are doing the cleaning here at the house that will allow me to come home after the transplant!

I just started chemo in April and had two cycles of chemo and was in remission. It has not been bad I have even surprised myself. I hope all goes well for you and keep us informed of the results of your BMB.

We are always here for support!

Gayle
