Side effects of bone strengtheners

Hi,

My Mum was diagnosed eith MM at the start of the year and so far appears to be doing well.  She goes in for her SCT in August so hopefully all will go well.

I wanted to know id anyone else has suffered from extreme shivering after getting the monthly bone strengthening drip treatment?  Sorry I don't know exactly what my Mum is on as she doesn't talk about it much.  I am concerned as this happens every time she gets the treatment and she has not spoken to the doctor about it.  She gets extremely cold and yesterday had to sit with 2 hot water bottles and a duvet and was still very cold (it was very humid and warm weatherwise yesterday).  I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this...she isn't the easiest to bring these things up with.  I have expressed my concern however and did hav strong words advising she should speak to her doctor.

 Any help would be appreciated

Thank you in advance

Why not try the new search engine bing.com and search for Negative side effects of Zometa.  This will let you know the side effects.  By putting negative into the mix it brings up a lot more information than the drug company lists it explains what other patients have suffered as to side effects and symptoms. All the best. Are you from England or Autstralia?

Hi,

Husband gets flu like symptoms with chills if the doc tries to give him Zometa every 3 weeks instead of every 4 weeks.  Once he insisted that she wait 4 weeks between treatments, he hasn't had a problem.  Perhaps asking the doc to give it slower would help, also.  Take care.

From Anna,

Hi all, I know I emailed one poster privately about this but I feel I put this out there for you all to read. Remember first that not all patients get the same side effects.  If your friend or loved one starts complaining about their Jaw hurting they need to tell the Dr. or dentist and keep saying it till someone listens.  That could be a problem and a bad one.

Your friend,

Anna

Hi bobz,

Yes, chiled to the bone is what I call it.  Zometa and other bisphophates can cause chills.  You might want to consider taking a blanket or ask for one while she sits for her treatment.  Also be aware that she can't have certain dental treatments after taking 'bone strengtheners'  especially if it involves the lower jar bone. I hope your doc is up on that particular note.  I hope you both are doing well.
