lung lymph node

My husband's pet scan showed his esophagus tumor had shrunk but a node in his lung looks active. Has anyone had experience with this?  They are holding off surgery until he sees a lung specialist but I am hoping there is some way to treat this.

Sorry to hear about this complication.  I did have lymph node involvement but it was posterior (behind) the esophagus and located in the mediastinum or space between the lungs.  Are you sure it is "in" the lungs and not just around the esophagus in the area of the lungs?

At my esophagectomy surgery, several lymph nodes were removed at the same time, that were found to have cancerous cells.  At this point, I'm just praying that the next follow up 3 month CT scan is negative and all the sick lymph nodes were removed.

Keep us informed.

Thanks for the info. He will have a new test--- some type of bronchial endoscopy (?) --when the Dr that can do this test gets back in town. I think they want a biopsy of it. I do wonder why they couldn't do it all at once. He is feeling much better now and is on a better antibiotic and the fluid is gone.    Good luck and thanks
