Abdomen fluid, late stage symptom?

Hi,

My mom has RCC IV and just got left kidney removed. She has lots of fluid/water in her belly/abdomen, even before and after the surgery. Does anyone know if too much fluid/water in the belly is kind of sign of late stage symptom? I mean 2 or 3 month left for her ?

Please let me know if you anything about it. I'm starting to get panic.

Thank you so much and all the best to all of you,

Linda

Hi Linda

I had my left kidney removed at the end of January and after having a CT scan 3 months after the Operation I was told there was some fluid. I believe this is normal after an operation and takes sometime to drain away.

I am due for another CT scan at the beginning of August and I will ask if there is still some fluid.

Steve

Hi, my husband was diagnosed with renal medullary carcinoma in April 2009.  When he was finally admitted into the hospital, he had huge amounts of fluid in his abdomen.  The doctors told us that it was the cancer buildup.  However, prior to his death, the doctors were removing anywhere between 2-4 liters of fluid from his abdomen a day (but it only replinished itself within hours of removal).

My husband's cancer was diagnosed the last week of April 09, and he passed away 2 weeks later.  RCC and RMC are both renal cancers, but I believe they are very different...

 I hope this helps...
