pain in upper back and across chest

My husband, age 66, was diagnosed with MM in april of this year.  He is starting  his 5th round of Velcade.  He is also scheduled for a laminectomy in september.  He has been having lots of lower back and leg pain since Februrary.  Evidently, most of his leg and back pain is coming from stenosis in his lumbar area caused from osteoarthritis.  He is taking many pain meds....morphine, gabepentin, percocet.....just to get through each day and night.  He is going to pursue a stem cell transplant once he has the back surgery.  He has been on his off cycle for chemo and starts again today.  Last night he had a knot-like pain in his upper back that seemed to move across to his chest.  He could not even move.  The pain meds did not help at all.  He was also very feverish.  Temp about 99.6.  He was also complaining that his legs felt like they were on fire.  They felt very warm.  Has anyone else experienced this type of pain?  It  seems like the upper back and chest pain would be related to the myeloma.  He had lab work done yesterday with a hemoglobin of 8.6.   Thanks for your responses.

From Anna,

Hi roxiedog, Welcome to the group.  Sorry I can't answer your question.  Dad is on pain med's for years for his pain.  I would suggest he tell he's Dr. all that's going on.

Your friend,

Anna
