Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer with Mets to Liver and Lungs - Already received Gemzar

I have stage IV Pancreatic Cancer and I was treated with a Chemotherapy of Gemzar and an experimental drug.  However, the chemo only worked from January to the end of June. By the middle of June the tumors in my lungs started growing and more and there were new ones and there was a new spot on my liver so I was taken off of the study.  So now I am being told that I am in my second line of defense with the disease and the doctors are telling me that that my cancer is very aggressive and even harder to treat because my body has been exposed to the Gemzar.  At this point, the only thing I am being offered is a drug called Fulfox (not sure of the spelling) but this chemo is a lot more toxic and only works in 20% of the patients and it usually causes numbness and possible nerve damage in your hands and feet.  I was told to "shop around and see what else is available; if there are any natural alternative, clinical trials or anything that anyone know might work for someone who has had Gemzar already and is in their second line of defense with this disease.  I am a 50 year old female and I don't want to die.

If anyone knows of anything I would really appreciate it.

I am so sorry to hear about your cancer.

How are you going?

Today my Mum was told that they will not even try to treat her cancer.  She has stage IV lung cancer that has spread to her bones and they are only going to treat her pain.

I am devastated that they won't even try.  My Mum is only 64 and I don't want her to die either.

I hope you have found some help.  I am not going to give up on my Mum.  I am searching for something for her too.

I 'm sorry about your cancer. But I do have an idea. Investagiate Reolysin and try to get into one of the phase II studies that are currently running. One study is with Gemzar and is run here in the US by Oncolitic biotech. The other Pancreatic study is being run by NCI and they are looking at Reolysin with Carbotax (not the standard of care). Reolysin is a non-modified virus that attacks and kills RAS positive cancers (Pancreatic Cancer is over 90 Percent RAS positive). They are actively seeking trial enrollees, they are also running a phase III in another indication and will likely be approved in the next 18 months. Both the panc. Trials will allow you to receive Reolysin (non-blinded) also lots of evidence of cleaning up liver and lung mets! I honestly believe this new kind of drug is the real deal. I wish you well, Michael
