My sister has been asked to participate in Phase 2 trial of Ixabepilone, Carboplatin & Bevacizumab (Avastin), for non-small cell lung cancer.  Is anyone out there participating in this study, or know anything about it?

Carboplatin is old and tried, and so is Avastin.   I was on a clincial trial of Tarceva plus Avastin.   The Avastin did not appear to be adding to the efficacy of the Tarceva and the Avastin has the side effect of 5% chance of bad bleeding and 2% of fatal bleeding.  We dropped the Avastin and just continued with the Tarceva.   Don't know about the ixabephilone.   Don't know about the 3 in combination.  Many people use both of the other chemos.    I'm on Carboplatin + Alimta at present.  It was OK's after trials finished last year.

Thanks for the quick reply.

My daughter is on Tarceva for triple negative breast cancer.  My sister is looking into this trial with Avastin & Ixempra, & carboplatin, and would like to make an informed decision in the next couple of days so she can get started with treatment.  Her other option is carboplatin & paclitaxel.
