3 months ago I had a biop done on both sides of my tongue. The results came back negative, thank God.The diagnosis was minimal hyperparakeratosis and degenerative vacuolar change of the stratum spinosum. The tissues were white in color....now yesterday I noticied that there's an area on one side that is black and about 5 mm in diameter. I'm going back to my surgeon next week..This black area recently appeared...I'm bumned... a weeks a long time to wait.

I wouldn't wait: Call the doctors office with the question - at least talk to a nurse in that office. It is very common to wonder if any ailment is cancer - especially if you have been diagnosed with cancer already - but even if you have not. For many years I "worried" about ovarian cancer, because the symptoms are so vague and it was usually not detected until it was too late (in the past anyway). Well, I have myelofibrosis - malignancy of the bone marrow. Who would have ever thought of that!? But the point is, if you have a question ask the nurse. If the doctor needs to see you earlier she/he will alert the doctor and let you know. It may be that what you are seeing is normal after having a biopsy there and nothing to worry about - a phone call will give you peace of mind. Blessings, Dayxday
