Hi everyone,

I am having the LEEP procedure done in a few weeks, and I was wondering if this is something I should take a few days off of work for or has everyone else been able to work the next day?

i think that you should take at least one day off to rest.  i would have been fine to go back to work that day....but i know of some ppl who were sore for a few days. i was not sore at all...in fact i went shopping right after.  it probably depends on how much of your cervix is being removed.  i had moderate to severe dysplasia, but the piece they removed was small.

 hope this helped

Sounds like a good plan! Thank you for your help. I hope whatever they have to remove is small for me too, but I really don't know much about it. My fingers are crossed! Does moderate to severe dysplasia mean there are cancerous cells or precancerous cells? They have not told me that much about this.

I took the day of my surgery and the two days following off. Just to rest. I think it depends on your job and what you do. Like I sit on my booty in front of a desk, so that may be easier than for someone who walks or moves around a lot at work.

Yea, I am on my feet for 8+ hours at work so I am thinking I will take the day of and a day or two after off. I am just not totally sure what to expect, and I don't know if the fact that I am on blood thinners will make this any more complicated!

First question I would have to ask you is: are you having the leep to remove cancerous cells, or do you simply have a diagnosis of dysplasia? I myself do not have cancer, but I did undergo a LEEP for moderate dysplasia about four days ago. Due to anxiety, this was performed in the hospital under general anesthesia, which of course is not a requirement. My Doctor absolutely refused to do the procedure in office due to my response to the colposcopy (just about went through the roof). General a. was whole hog- breathing tube and the whole bit, if you go this route you can expect to have a bit of a mean sore throat for the next couple of days, not to mention loopiness from the a. Four days in the future I am experiencing some light bleeding and soreness in boobs (not sure if it is related). The bleeding is not unlike a period, but unlike those you will be using pads and not tampons (no sticking objects up you hoo-ha till your doc tell you to pass go). I hope to high heaven that this dysplasia does not progress further and was nipped in the bud. My heart goes out to all of the women on this site and beyond who are battling actual cancer. This alone was enough to prompt me to have a nervous breakdown. But I digress:) In response to your question, yes it is advisable to take one or two days off post-op. Do not lift anything heavy, no strenuous movement, no tampons, and no sex. You go grrl! Aint nothing to fear!
