Hi there

I'm writing this to hopefully help people in the future.  My story is sad but true.

My mum went into hospital for a Gallbladder operation.  She had only strong abdominal pains for 2 weeks.  Looking at Mum before I believe she had abdominal swelling as well.  No other signs, she was fighting fit.  She was sent to the hospital for a CAT scan and ultra sound.  They found soft mass around the gallbladder among other little things.  We only thought it as a normal gallbladder operation scheduled.

Here operation was on the 1 of June 2009 and she passed away on June 19th 2009.  Only 18 days after her operation.

Her operation they thought was an infection of the gallbladder and they were going to remove it, then flush the area.  When the surgeon opened her up he said that her insides were fused together and it was gallbadder cancer.

Over the next days in the hospital all they could do for her was relieve her pain.  There was talk of all the other medical things they could try, but it was really too late.

Each day she got worse.  And each day was was getting more and more yellow and swollen.  It was attacking her liver.

In the end our poor mum died of liver failure, this cancer was quick.

She is loved and missed.  If I can help anyone at the moment please let me know.

I know in time I will be eased with the fact this was a quick and relatively pain free death.

I love you 'My Mum'.  xx

I understand your pain and loss. I feel extremely sorry for your loss which can never be replaced.

I am going through the same pain and anger because my mom has just been diagnosed with stage  IV gallbladder cancer, all of the sudden. USG abdomen pointed towards cholecystitis (chronic infection) or GB cancer. But CT abdomen had actually ruled out GB cancer. I was very happy at that time.

Looking at her ugly GB in USG as well as CT scan, we decided to remove it by laproscopy. During laproscopic resection, surgeon found lots of adhesion around galbladder and one omental nodule. Surgeon did not touch the GB and took biopsy of omental nodule which unfortunately came out positive for metastatic cancer. My mom has been diagnosed with stage IV caner because GB cancer has spread outside it. Had surgeon resected the GB, GB cancer would have spread in to abdominal cavity very quickly. so he did the wise thing.

Now my poor mom has no other choice but to go through the painful phase of chemotherapy. Unfortunately there are no proven chemotherapy benefit for GB cancer. Oncophysicians are starting her on Gemcitabin plus platinum based chemo agents.

I pray to god that chemo work on my mom, she respond to chemo and she live longer.

Atleast, I wish my mom can die comfortably without the pain of this nasty cancer.

I can tell you love your mother deeply. I am so sorry about the dx. Hopefully the chemo will stop the cancer.

I will keep you and your mother in my prayers!

Take care & God Bless!
