IgG and Beta-2-microglobulin, Serum

Me again...

I'm still trying to understand these labs.

Beta-2 Microglobin, Serum 1.6 on 5/15, then  2.4 on 7/22.   IgG # went from 2493 on 5/15 to 2330 on 7/22.

We were excited about the drop in his M-spike, but then I just realized that Beta-2 number went up.  It's still within the normal range, but is that normal for those numbers to go in the opposite direction?

I would like him to ask his doctor, but I'm afraid if I tell my Dad about this number going up, he might panic.  If he looked at the labs he would know, but he won't do it.  I am taking small steps to get him involved.

Hi,

Just barged in on your message board here, with regards to "asking", My thoughts are to ask often and keep asking, it's the best way to keep everyone up and on their toes. A prominent Dr in the southern California area says that's his one big problem, "people don' ask the doctors enough questions, they don't challenge the doctors" this is a must. As far as the "hiding the head in the sand"....this is no time to be shy, get him involved, deal directly h and with integrity and show support by being informed and strong and positive... I battled surgery, chemo and radiation, and this suppor t style really helped me

 Keep fighting!
