Bowel Obstructions after surgery

Hello all..  I was just recently diagnosed with recurring gastric cancer after being in the hospital for a month.  They finally figured out that I had a bowel obstruction after opening me up.  I was originally diagnosed with ring signet carcinoma IIIA in March of 08 and had a full gastrectomy in Apr 08.  Anyway, I was wondering if anybody else has had problems with bowel obstructions after their original gastrectomy and if it has been on more than one occassion.  My oncologist believes that I may end up in the hospital again down the road from another obstruction.  I lost alot of wieght after this last one and I can't eat the way I could before the obstruction.  I hate to think I would have to go through this every year or so...  Anyway, enough blabbing...  God bless and LIVESTRONG!!!!

Hi,

I had the surgery in Aug.07, I can't believe its been that long.  Anyway, I have not had any bowl obstructions yet.  Just a narrowing of my esophegus.  I had a procedure to stretch it out twice now.  Once in Jan 08 and once in June of this year.

I did just start having pain in my intestinal tract, just the past month or so.  It comes and goes, usually after eating something spicey or something with an Italian leafy plant that I can't quite think of the name???  (Chemo brain two years later??)  These put me in serious pain and I have to take a vicoden and a med called belladonna(?) to get rid of the pain.

Sorry I can't help more.  I go for my next scan on Oct.9,, my first in six months.  I'm a little worried.  This is the first time I've gone more than 3 months with out a scan.

Andrea
