Hello'
This is my first time here. So I am a little yellow on this site. But here goes any way. I have a sister that has Lung Cancer. Has had it for a while. But was only told March of this year that she only had 6 months to a year to live. I have never had to deal with something like this before. To Someone so close to me. They said she was in Stage 4. Could someone please explain to me what that means. I am doing a lot of research on the matter but I sill haven't found a wepsite that explains to me what it means. When the Doc. Says she has Stage 4 Lung Cancer. Does that mean the Last Stage? I don't understand. Please Help
I am sorry to hear about your sister. You say she is stage 4 but you do not say what type cancer she has. That makes a big difference as well as the type of treatment she is receiving.
Stage 4 means the cancer has travelled outside the lungs, what they call metastasized. And it is the last stage for lung cancer. But although not cureable, it is treatable and your sister can live a long time.
I was given 6-12 months with stage 4 and that will be 3 years ago on October 5. So there are a lot of things to take into consideration. Don't take the prognosis as final because doctors don't really know. They are just making a guess based on very old statistics.
If you could give us some more info on your sister's cancer and the treatments, scan results and such we could possibly help you more.
God Bless
