Hi All,

Todays I am posting this messeage after 4 month of My Father's Esophegal surgry. He has Undergone the Total Esophegomty.

My Father was Diagnosed with Esophegal Cancer in 10'th Oct 2008. After first CT and some Other Sonography test Doctor said that the cancer is in Last stage. There was a tumor in lower third in Esophegaous and one synchronous lesion at GE junction and some very Early Mates had been Spreaded in the liver.

Our Local Oncologist Suggessted with first Chemo with Docxetol , Carboplate and 5 FU. After that in Next CT The Liver Mates was gone and the Stomach lesion was also disappeared. But the Site was still there. The staging of diease had been reduced.

The Doctor Suggessted for two more Chemo after eash 21 Days Gap. Again my dad undergone with Docxetol , Cisplate and 5 FU.

After that when he went through Liver FNAC , CT and Other Sonography test as well. The Tumor Size in Esophegal wall was reduced Extreamly and And the Liver and GE junction diease was dissapeared.

Still Doctor Gave him 3 more Chemo with the Same Compostion of Injections Just Because of Some Doubt and the Site of GE Junction was Still there. They were also Not Confirmed That it's a Ulser healing or what ..?

After Complition of 6 th Chemo on 27 Jan 2009. Doctor suggessted for One month rest and a special Exercise for Lungs . And in March 2009 My dad undergone with a Endoscopy. The scene was clear . there was only few dots at the site of Tumor. Bt the Doctor Suggessted for Consolidated Treatment like Radiotherapy or Surgy.

After that Finally on 10'th March 2009 my dad Undergone a surgry. Doctor said that his Tummy has been a bit small just because of Esophgamty.

Today I am Feeling proud that my dad is Cancer free now. It's been One Month since his surgy. No Complication at all. Our Oncologist Asked for Follow up after one Month.

Just because of Chemo and Surgry my dad has Lost a good amount of weight. and feeling a bit weak. These are the concern still scarying to me.Doctor's said it will take time for recovry bt how much..?? No answer.

--- But anyways I am Happy :) Just Because lot of Support from My Family members and GOD.

By Considering my above posts,

I want to share some news with you guys, My Dad has undergone Esophegal Surgry on 10'th of march 2009, now after first follow up our Oncologist said that all the test are NED.

Hi Deep:

I am happy to hear of your dad's NED test, it is always nice to hear. I am almost 1 year post surgery and so far all tests have been NED. It does take time to heal, this is a very major surgery. It has taken me a year to be back at about 90% and they say we will never be 100% after EC surgery, 95% is the best it will get so I am almost there. Everyone is different and heals at their own rate. The first 3-5 months was hard for me, I was continously throwing up anything I ate, but I kept eating because you have to. I lost 45 pounds in total, as do alot of us here. It took 5 months before I could actually eat without throwing up and once this happened my weight was up and down until I was finally able to gain some back and now I am maintaining my weight, it does tend to go up and down alittle but not much. The only time I throw up now is when I over eat, but I have learnt to control that as well as chew my food good and eat more slowly, and less more often. Some things still bother me but I try to avoid them. I also have to sleep with a 12" wedge pillow with 2 pillows on top of it and I have to stop eating afew hours be fore bed. However cheese and crackers is something I can eat right up until bed time, but nothing else or it comes up on me in the night and I end up throwing up in the morning. It is a life changing experience, but you get used to it and once you do life is not so bad. It will get better, you will see a difference as the days go, so be patient, hang in there and help your dad by being supportive. Please keep in touch and ask any questions you need to.

Take Care and Be Positive

This is such wonderful news. My husband was on Docetaxol, leucovorin and 5-FU. They noted minimal improvement, after 2 1/2 months, in his esophagus and the tumors grew in his liver. He is now on carboplatnium and irenotecan and hopefully he will have the same results. Keep him in your prayers!

Hi,

I wish for all the people those who are suffering from this monster. Just be with faith in GOD , everything will be fine.

Please also let me know what are the various ways by which Eating habits can be increased and weight can be gained after a heavy amount of Chemo and Surgry.

So glad to hear the good news.  The doctors are right......it just takes time now.  I am a 5 year survivor.  The first 8 months were the worst.  I tried everything from Boost to Ensure, but nothing worked except time.  He will gain weight again and he will also begin to tolerate foods.  Go easy, small amounts, no sweets, very little dairy.  To my great amazement, my surgeon suggested Chili and I thought it would kill me, but she was right.  I ate a small amount of mild chili and it worked.  My other doctor suggested any kind of soup with protein.  Beef, chicken, even fish soups.  Ugh, fish soup didn't do it for me, but all the others got me through, especially the chicken noodle.

Tell him just to "tolerate" eating the same old things that work for just a little longer.  I would expect that by Super Bowl Sunday next February....all of this will have begun to be a very dim memory.

Hi All,

Today I am feeling so nervus. After first followup since my Dad's surgry after 6 months in march 2009 , As I already mentioned in above post, in follow up Doctor's found that there was some water(> 1500 ml) get filled in his lungs. Doctor's removed that by some utrasound and other sonography Techniques.

Thanks to God on test it's found that it is general water, and doctor's said just because of surgry complication's it came. No need to worry.

Here my fathe is suffering from fever Since a big time. Doctor's said it was just because of that water and weakness. Fever is like up and Down, and he is also feeling some headache after having meal for a while. No body growth.

I am totally confused what to do or what not.

Please suggesst.
