treatment

In 2007 I had my kidney removed due to clear cell RCC.  I was told the chances of cancer returning was very small - but in June 2009 it did.  I now have been diagnosed with stage IV metistatic RCC.  It showed up in my bone after my arm broke.  My doctor told me I had a very good prognosis (no other health problems exist) and put me on Sutent 50 mg.

My question is -

I know there are alternative treatments that help and I am looking for help on some dietary answers.  I am told that it God made it - eat it.  If man made it - don"t eat it.  I realize this is quite simple advice but I tould like to know if there is any help on the web that I could look at that would give me some direction in diet.

You got some pretty good advice about the diet.  Beware of fruit, however, as it may cause digestive issues while on the SUTENT.  Small meals, no grease, limit chemicals, and be careful with dairy.  Other than that, my husband, Big John, eats whatever he wants.  He has been on SUTENT for over 2 1/2  years now and is doing very well.  The side effects dimish with time.  Hope this helps.   Dianna

I have the same thing as you and I the only advice I can give you about the diet is, If you can eat it then do it. I was a level four and had the right kidney removed and a gland and lymph node in my neck removed small spots in the stomach lining and one in the lung. I spent 18 months on sutent and believe it saved my life. CT and MIR's are clean and I'm going in for a Pet scan this month. If it comes back good I'm clean for the now. Sutent is the hardest drug I've ever had to deal with but my doctor insisted I stay on the drug. I went off the drug in mid June this year when my body was in such bad shape I had to go into the hospital for a week. I went from 228lbs when I had my first surgery (12/07) to 160 when I went in the hospital this June. I hated taking Sutent because I knew every time I started it I knew what I would feel like in two weeks. This drug saved my life and I've never regretted taking it, It SAVED MY LIFE.

Hang in there and eat whatever you can, and good luck.
