Cervical Cancer Aug 2000, radical hysto. 6 wk check up showed abnormal....still does!
Has anyone else experience repeated abnormal Paps for so long after hysto??
I dont think I can take many more biopsies...I swear Ive had like 30 in the past 9 yrs!!!!
The Paps come back abnormal...they do biopsies...still not sure...do lazer....tell me "all clear"..then 3 months later abnormal AGAIN!!!
I trust my Gyn Onc with my life!!! she is AWESOME! I just wonder if thereis something they are missing?? I dont think that I should still be having to fight this crap for 9 yrs....Is it something that my first GYN missed?? did they not get it all during the hysto?? Do I just wait for it to be cancer again before something is done??
Any suggestions??
I have the same problem. Past 5 years have included LEEP procedure, conization, radical hysterectomy, laser, and two vaginectomies in addition to all the paps and biopsies. Nothing seems to work. I changed doctors after the first procedure and am seeing a gyn oncologist. I do trust her . .. but, here we go again . . . back to see her in Oct for another pap, then etc. Not too hopeful since the biopsy from the last vaginectomy did not show a clear margin - altho no cancer was detected. If still showing dysplasia she wants to do another abdominal operation and remove the upper part of the vagina. MRIs did not show any mass.
I am not sure I want to continue with more surgeries.
I did find from my general practicioner that I was severely deficient in vitamin D and after a regimen of 50,000 units for a couple of months, I am now taking 1,000 each day. Vitamin D may boost the immune system and I understand if you have a healthy immune system, your body should be able to stave off the continued growth of the pre-cancer cells to cancerous.
Who knows - would likewise welcome info from others.
