Hi Anna~~ I started off on 50mg over three years ago, but my bloods quickly went skew whiff and within a couple of weeks we dropped it down to 25mg and then after another couple of months we dropped to 10mg which is where I've stayed ever since. I still have very low white blood counts and am neutropenic almost all of the time, but hey, one learns to live with it and learns how to avoid dangerous situations where one might 'catch' diseases, colds, etc. I practice 'protective' behaviours all of the time, and everyone who knows me does the same, so no one visits me if they are even slightly ill, and I don't go places where I might be exposed like for instance the movie theatre when it is full of people. If I want to see a movie I go at the time when the fewest possible people will be there -- maybe not the ideal time, but it protects me. Did you ever see Dustin Hoffman in Outbreak? When someone sneezes in a theatre and you see this green fog extend across all the people in the place, infecting everyone. Its a picture that's stuck in my mind forever -- and knowing that I'm suseptable just means extra precautions!!
Good luck to your dad -- as has been said, with 40mg he can reduce substantially should he need to and still be getting the benefit of Revlimid. And, I've taken it all this time WITHOUT dex -- and its done a fantastic job on its own!! Best wishes, Cath
