hi! this is farah. i posted a few messages last september after my nephron sparing sugery. it was a stage 1 and grade 1 tumor. i am now pregnant at the age of 40. as this is not planned and is due to unprotected sex with my husband i am really disturbed. i am now about 5 weeks and really concerned if it is all right to continue with it. i am not having any medicine for my disease and am just advised a 3 monthly follow up. please guide me about it.

The ONC must have believed you were at low risk for metastasis or he would not have used NSS. Chemo and radiation are very rarely used in treating RCC except for Mets to the brain If you are nvd and are not on any meds it is rare but not imposable that the RCC will metastasize to a lung or some other lactation some time in the future. I would think the only risk at this point would be x-ray exposure from follow up scans I think you should talk with a radiologist about the proper precautions.

My first thought is to get an opinion or opinions from doctors.  You are not only risking your own life but also the life of you unborn baby.  You didn't say in your message what the response was from your doctor, but if not satisfied, I would certainly seek a second opinion - especially in light of your unborn baby.
