I just had my right Kidney removed in march due to renal cell carcinoma. Fortunatly it was incapsulated INSIDE my kidney and so it did not spread and I had no radiation or kemo.

What are my odds of getting it in my left remaining kidney. I have NO family history of Kidney cancer so I do not know what caused this one unless it is the fact that I have been smoking for 50 years and I maintenance drink 8 beers a day, everyday.. I am 65 years old.

I would not worry about your second kidney you are more likely to kill of your liver or be diagnosed with lung cancer. If this is for real you might consider AA and quit smoking which by the way can cause RCC.

Well, to my understanding and what I have read, it depends on the type of kidney cancer you were diagnosed with. I believe hereditary RCC can occur in the other kidney and papillary renal cell carcinoma has a nasty habit of occuring in multiple sites.

Your best defense is vigilance. I would suggest regular follow ups and scans to be safe, but of course, you and your doctor should make that determination.
