TJ is going into hospital tomorrow for the Hickmann line and the stemcell-lines, as well as his first IV chemo. We're looking forward to things moving ahead, a little bit anxious about all it involves but it needs to be done, so we'll just take it one day at the time !
I'll be with him next week for the stemcell harvest.

Best of luck with the harvest.  I hope it all goes well.

Good Evening Marlene;

I'll be with him next week for the stemcell harvest.

Don't forget to tell them you want more than the normal 2 harvests. Keep in mind, this is the best you're going to get, so get all you can now.

Good luck and keep us informed.

Take care;

Kevin

Thanks everyone. Actually Kevin, he wants to leave very shortly after the harvest for a 2 week holiday in the US, which means he will only get 2 days for harvesting ! They first gave him a timetable for the whole procedure, he booked his flying tickets according to the hospitals schedule, and on the day he booked his (non-refundable) tickets the hospital rang and changed the whole thing ! Fortunately they came up with a good alternative, so he can have the harvest and his trip, but as I said, there's only a very small window of opportunity. We need a lot of good thoughts sent our way for as many stemcells as possible. Apparently they will do one day of about 8 hours of harvesting and then another day of 4 hours. It's not his fault, the hospital shouldn't have changed the schedule (just because there was a mix-up with the harvesting machines already being booked)

Thanks Anna, you're sweet. I just got an e-mail from him... as to be expected, he's quite ill from the cyclophosphamide... Poor munchkin... I wish I could help him out. But he's in good hands at the clinic. I have to work nightshifts all week, otherwise I'd be over there right now. How long do the side-effects from a round of IV chemo usually last ? He's got horrible diarrhea and a pounding headache. Please send him your good vibes !

 From Anna,

Hi Marlene, Don't remember how long the side effects will last. Sorry.  He might want to let the Dr. know how bad the diarrhea is though. He can't get dyhydrated if its really bad.

Your friend,

Anna

True, Anna, but he's in hospital and there still pumping liquids into him as we speak so we have that well covered. I hope he gets a better nights sleep today.
