Dad's having a rough time with the chemo

From Anna,

Hey all, Dad is having a rough time since he started back last Thursday.  Yesterday he had muscle cramps yesterday in the left side of his chest.  He's tried several things to help but I don't think they have.  He's been taking his pain med's to I think.  He's been real quiet. That's how he is when he feels bad. I don't remember it being this bad the last time and he's taking the same dosage he was before.  Don't know what doseage the Revlimide is but his Dex is 4mg and I think he takes it a couple of times a day.  But that's only once every 7 days.  Its so hard to see him like this.  I know those of you who have loved ones with this know what I mean. And those going through it.  Mom also thinks he got to hot working outside Saturday. She didn't want him to do it but you know how some men are they don't listen.  So that could be the reason for some of the cramps. He has tried his Magneisum. I know.

Your friend,

Anna

Hi Anna Every time I took any steroid such as dex it caused muscle cramps. I am so sorry he is having such a rough time of it. Like you say the dex is for only 7 days then he's through with it. Cya Poppy

Hi, so sorry your dad is having trouble with side effects from his meds. You are probably right about overdoing it outside Saturday. you have to be careful when you are taking steroids and chemo not to overdo and get too my sun or heat. Hopefully the chest pain will subside with some rest. I wish you the best. I'm a stage 4 breast cancer survivor so I have faith that your dad will survive also. God bless you all !!

Hi Anna,

I got severe muscle cramps from the Revlimid.  They were debilitating.  Make sure your dad tells his oncologist about this.  He may want to lower the Revlimid.

He's in my prayers.

So sorry your dad is having such a rough time with his treatment. It must be hard watching him suffer. You are such a source of strength for him, though, I'm sure he appreciates your concern.

I still say the Dex might be the cause of some of his problems. Make sure you ask the oncologist. My best to you and your family.

Your friend,

Mary Ann
