I was diagnosed with a vulvar lesion and am now 1 week post op.I am wondering if anyone has had bowel problems after their surgery and if so how long did it take them to have their first bowel movement after surgery.I had my surgery 7 days ago and have not had a bowel movement for 9 days now.i am starting to get worried about that.

In response to question about not having a bowel movement for days following surgery: My sister has had two vulvar surgeries since late April -1 to remove tissue, the other to remove lymph noded. After both she went for a number of days without a bowel movement - worrisome- and finally had to use suppositories and Milk of magnesia. She used Percocet, too, for pain but it caused constipation.

I would hope by now things are better with the bowels but the percocet or any pain med for that fact could cause the constipation. You could use a stool softener that would help you alot i'm sure. We all know that bowel movements right after this type of surgery can be painful... Lots of roughage is important also........ Hope your doing well.

Thanks for answering me back.I now have a problem with the stitches the doctor gave me.They are the thick white ones and they now look like a stitch that is just unraveling and I haven't been to the doctor yet so I don't know if this is normal.I don;t even know if these are the ones that are supposed to disolve but from what it looks like they are not.I had my surgery on August 3rd and and I am now hurting on the opposite side from where I had the growth. It looks like I have a white blister on the vulvar area.ould you know anything about that? Thanks.

I would think that the doc gave you disolvable sutures. I believe thats what they usually do. Thats what i had anyway. Maybe the sutures just wern't tightened enough. Just watch them close and I'm sure they are gonna be fine. I would think that if you had surgery ion the 3rd they would begin to disolve by now. As for the white blister area keep an eye and maybe you should call the doc and question it. I'm not saying it's another area but if its white it could be that or maybe he lasered an area and never told ya about it. I hope this helped a bit. I don't have much expierence in this as I only wne through two bouts of it. The last one being the worst of the two. I wish I could be of more help. I know it's scarey but hang in there hun.

Did your sister ever have any radiation after surgery? I am trying to find help for pain a loved one is having in her groins post radiation of lymph nodes...
