avastin pain

I stumbled upon this message center while searching for information about long term avastin use, I am so grateful to know (sorry) that others are having pain associated with avastin. I am in a clinical trial for breast cancer and have been taking avastin every 3 weeks for a year and 2 months. I honestly could cry to know this is not all in my head nor am I a neurotic, my oncologists just look at me when I tell them of the foot/shoulder and body pain I am having, they tell me it is not a side effect. Tests have been run for other arthritic conditions, vitamin D deficiency etc, all have been negative, I had osteoarthritis before all this began. Awful pain started a year ago in my feet, then my shoulders to where I couldn't sleep without pain relief and lorazepam, as it is now I take 1 and 1/2- 5.5 hydrocodone before I go to work and the same at lunch. I don't take them unless I have to go somewhere because I am afraid of dependency. These drugs in NO way make the pain subside but they dull it enough to function in my physical /on my feet all day job. I haven't felt comfortable for a YEAR and now I am angry, the oncologist says "we" must start getting off the pain pills so I am always afraid my prescription won't be filled and having to limp and work in awful pain....I support myself.  I am printing these posts and taking them to my next appointment, they BETTER write down this debilitating side effect....I am in a clinical trial for pity sake!

The pain has lessened a bit with the warmer weather but some days are just like the middle of winter. I am so grateful to read your posts, a trememdous weight has been lifted from my mind.
