A support action plan for caregivers

I found out on Thursday my sister has stage four liver cancer.  She is living with my parents, who are in their seventies, who will be her full time care providers.  I live five hundred miles away.

Chemo and radiation will start right away and I am would like to help my parents and sisters by developing a support action plan. I am not sure my parents are prepared for this and I am certain they will not ask for help.

The things I can think of immediately are developing a food chain and a care giver respite plan.

What other items should I include?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You might set up a website via www.caringbridge.org... where you and your sister or others (anyone who has the password to your site) can get news of how she's doing, and how they can help. It's really wonderful. It spares all the family from having to make dozens of calls, and people love to be kept in the loop.

I hope things get slowed down and that she'll be comfortable, above all.

Best,
Sarah

I have also heard great things about www.sharethecare.org where you can set up with friends and family caregiving. These websites may help your sister very much!
