From Anna,

Hi all, I am 45 years old.  I have Spina Bifida, can't feel from waist down.  (Probably not important but I put it anyway).  Two years ago last month I stopped having a period. Then out of the blue it started again last month.  I bleed off and on for several days then started going heavy like I did when I had my period regularly.  Yesterday I went to my very first OBGYN appointment.  The Dr. did an exam then decided to have an ultra sound done.  The techs said they thought they say a Fibrod (sp) tumor in my Uterus canal and a cycst on my left ovray (sp?).  I wrote both things down.  Was a little surprised they found anything.  So when the Dr. came in she said they did find a very small thing in my uterus. A little bigger than then head of straight pen.  She said it was cyst if I remember right.  Which I'm not sure I do since the techs said it looked like a Fibrod (sp) tumor.  I didn't want to get thme in trouble. So I didn't say what they'd said.  She did want to do a blood test to see if my hormones were still active or not. Then she said something about watching it and maybe doing biopsy later.  So saying all that did they find a cyst in my Uterus canal or a Fibrod (sp?) tumor.  I am to hear back from the office next week about the blood test to see what harmones are doing so I will ask somethings again.  Can a woman have cyst's in the Uterus or not?  Sorry if you all think I am rambling. Like I said was just thrown they found anything.  Hope some of you can dig through here and answer my questions.

 Your friend,

Anna

At age 68, I was just diagnosed with uterine cancer, which is what you have to be concerned about with fibroids.  If they are estrogen driven, you really should consider using a "Natural Progesterone Cream Usp" that you rub onto your skin twice a day.  This topical Progesterone can prevent the fibroids from becoming cancerous, and possibly shrink them and even elimate them altogether.  Because of my Uterine cancer, I have been doing some research. I purchased a booklet $5.95 at Amazon.com that you should read and possibly start this inexpensive, over-the-counter, all-natural treatment, just like you take your daily vitamin supplements. It is a very small book, but loaded with vital facts. Of course, you should ask your Doctor about this. Personally, I feel that if I started with the progesterone cream, I would not have cancer now. Even so, I cannot take progesterone until after my Hysterectomy surgery on the 9th, but I cannot wait to get started and am even putting my husband on it. You just rub a tiny bit onto your skin, preferably twice a day for 26-28 days, then take a break of 4-6 days before starting again. That's all there is to it. I have nothing to do with this book and do not benefit from it. But I think it might help you avoid a worse situation later on.

The book is available from Amazon.com for $5.95: http://www.amazon.com/Natural-Progesterone-Cream-Norman-Shea " target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.amazon.com/Natural-Progesterone-Cream-Norman-Shea

I was just diagnosed with uterine cancer on May 29,2009. It is in stage 1, which means it has not spread outside the uterine wall. It is also a very slow-growing cancer, so I'm not overly worried. My new ob/gyn who did the biopsy said if you have to get cancer, this is the best kind to get (some of the new cancer humor I'm learning.) The best advise I can give you based on my experience, learn everything you can about whatever it is. Don't be afraid to ask questions, even if that means calling the doctor back if you've read something online that you think may apply to you. Next ultrasound, make them show you what it is they see on the screen. You may not be able to see it if it's really small, but ask anyway. I probably could have avoided getting cancer if I had paid more attention to what they found five years ago. My symptoms were occasional heavy bleeding, and hyperplasia, a build up of the lining of the uterus that can potentially cause cancer. I stayed on the prescribed medication for three years, but it is also an appetite stimulant and I gained a lot of weight before I let myself become aware of it. I hadn't been back to the ob/gyn because the weight gain had caused me to become unable to walk, and I tried twice to see if they could accomodate me if I came in by ambulance  and would have to stay on the stretcher. Both times they said they would have to call me back, but neither did.  And my clinic dr wouldn't see me when I was inpatient for other reasons on two occasions because it was against protocol. Two years later I was in the hospital for something else , I told the Hospital doctor (not a resident) about the heavy bleeding and large clots I had just had a few days earlier and for several days, She set me up with a new ob/gyn and I had the d&c and biopsy the next day. Two days later I hade my diagnoses. I was so grateful to have caught it so early.

 My point is, get more gutsy than you ever thought you could. It may be nothing, but it could be something and umtimately, we're each responsible for our own well being. If you don't show any interest in any new symptoms in your body your doctor may not take any interest either.

Oh, and don't apologize for getting too wordy. We say what we need to say and no one is obliged to read us if it looks too long. I just wish this board was more active. Being housebound, I can't go to a local support group and have been really surprised to find almost nothing for uterine cancer online.

Take care of yourself, Anna.

I just reread your message and caught that this was your FIRST ob/gyn visit . So you likely have not had a mammogram. Get thee to a breast clinic asap. Now is a good time to get a good baseline image. You had the courage to go to the ob/gyn, so you can do this  She/he can give you a referrall of where to go.

 Also, I'm 55.

I am now 69 years old and have been going to obgyn visits most of my adult life. I have 2 children. This was not my first visit, but one of many. In fact I have been trying to discover the source of my postmenopause bleeding/staining for 2 years with several biopsies and 2 D&C's before my tiny cancer was located.  I agree mammograms are important and I have had them annually for years.   By the way my surgery on the 8th went very well. I had everything removed, uterus, ovaries, tubes, even some lymph nodes.  It is interesting that during my operation, my doctor noticed that my cancer had in fact already progressed through 3/4 of my uterine lining. So I caught this as Stage 1. just in time. Thank you for you good advice. It is vital to keep diligent every way possible.

Anna, stay on top of your diagnosis. Yes, cysts can be found in the uterus. Your story sounds similar to mine. I would think they would want to do a biopsy on the growth, whatever it is, to see if it is cancerous.  That is what they did for me. Do ask your doctors about biopsy of the growth just to be sure. Waiting only gives cancer an opportunity to grow. I had postmenopausal staining bleeding for 2 years before my cancer was discovered. Stay with it. Do not let too much time pass before checking out this growth. Best wishes, Ce

From Anna,

Hi threebead, The Dr. said something the day I went to see her about a biopsy. She said one wasn't needed cause it was so small.  And getting on the table was such a hassell don't think I'll go back and see her.

Anna, Persist...My spot was also very small, so small it took 2 years of persistance, 2 D&C's 3 biopsies to find it.  You might also want to read the booklet I mentioned in my original article. If the growth is not cancerous yet and it is probably estrogen driven, using a bit of the NATURAL Progesterone Cream, Usp might help to get you balanced and cured.  Check it out at Amazon.com for only $5.95. It is written by a doctor, so take it for what it is worth.  But, under all circumstances, stay away from man-made doctor-pushed hormones. They are bad for you.;
