Hi there,

Many of you probably already have seen this clip from CNN online - or maybe on TV.  For those that have not, the latest research on Aspirin and Colon Cancer suggests that taking simple aspirin a day can help colon cancer patients increase their survival by a whopping 26%.  Wow!  But clearly, you should ask your oncologist if taking an aspirin is right for you -- given you could be on a chemotherapy that might start bleeding and you might be a patient who is prone to bleeding.

I heard about this...really pretty amazing results from just asprin!  I did hear though (correct me if I'm wrong) that it's for colon cancer that hasn't spread from the colon..not sure if that's accurate but that's what they said on the Today show?!  I don't know why it couldn't still help to try for the other stages as well though?

I read the study.  It seems to help with earlier staged colon cancer, specifically Stages I,2, and 3.  It didn't say anything about Stage 4, and my husband is Stage 4, but we're giving it a try ... because ... well ... why not?  What is there to loose (and it has been OK'd by our oncologist this morning).  Here's another online resource that explains this study in greater depth.

Sorry!  I'll try this URL again as the previous link "broke" in my previous posting. If this doesn't work, simply copy and past in the full URL (all three lines of it) and it will take you to the correct article.

I see your husband has stage 4 colorectal cancer as does mine. His has spread to the liver and lungs. Are you allowed to take the aspirin if you have liver mets?
