In August, 2007 I had a liver resection for cholangiocarcinoma. I was told the surgery cured me. I underwent chemo (gemstar and tarceva) just in case there were microscopic cancer cells in my blood. In March, 2009 I had a normal MRI. In August, 2009 which was suppose to be my 2 year cancer free anniversary, a new .9cm spot showed up on the right dome of my liver which is the part that was removed in 2007. The spot is too small too needle biopsy and also under my lung. So I have to wait 8 weeks for a pet scan and the doctors will see if the spot has grown and whether it lights up. I also have Wilson's Disease which means my body does not excrete copper. Copper is stored in the liver and the doctors are thinking my cancer is connected with the Wilson's Disease. My oncologist doubts if the spot is cancer that no doctor will operate again.
I know if the spot is cancer that this is serious news and not a good prognosis. It is a lot harder to deal with the second time around. The waiting, tests etc.
Has any one had any other chemo drugs other then gemstar and tarceva?
Has any one had a reoccurrence of bile duct cancer?
Has anyone been operated on twice for bile duct cancer?
Does any one have Wilson's Disease and bile duct cancer?
Anyone have any thoughts that can help?
