Need advice: Lymphoma

Ok, so two weeks ago I discovered a visible lump on the right side of my neck. I had been having fevers on and off for a few weeks so I decided to make and appointment at the doctor ever though I dont have insurance. The lump is painless and non-movable and the doctor said it is my lymphnode. She set up an ultra sound and full blood work test for the next day. The ultrasound showed the the mass was solid and about 3in by 2in and there were two smaller ones above it. I did the blood work and while I was there the doctor gave me a perscription for a strong antibiotic and she told me she hoped that would make the lump shrink. Days passed and I was really waiting on the results, hoping it would rule out Lymphoma. The doctor finally called after 4days and she didnt have much to say and definitely no answers. She said that mostly everything in my blood work came back fine but a few things were concerning and that she would schedule a appointment for the following week to "discuss what our next step would be." I said to her "Well since you dont seem too concerned its nothing too harmful like lymphoma, right?" and she responded that she could not accurately say if it was or not. That my next step would have tp be getting a biopsy done and we would discuss it at my appointment. She wants me to continue to take the antibiotic and I have been on them for 7days and no change in lump size. My question is, shouldnt the blood work have told whether or not I have an infection and the antibiotics could help? And, if it is Lymphoma, will the Biopsy tell me that for sure? Im not scared of being sick I just hate not having answers and my doctor doesnt give me much to go off of. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, I am not a doctor but had thyroid cancer.  Your situation is almost the same thing that happened to me.  Until my doctor took a sample, they could not tell anything.  Simple test really.  They just gave me a shot to numb the area and stuck a needle in and took a sample.  The next day I knew the result, I had cancer.  They tried radiation, I did not respond to it.  I then just asked them to take everything out.  Several surgery's later, I am ok.  My health has never been the same, but I am alive and enjoying seening my children grow.  Hope this helps.  One thing though, no matter how much "new research" is being done, they really don't seem to know a whole lot.  The only resource you can rely on is your family.  I hit all kinds of walls when trying to get info from "cancer" resources.  Is really frustrating.  Maybe you will have better luck.  You just need to find a good doctor who cares.  Good luck!

My grandma had this disease.. though she had non hogkins lymphoma... being sick i must say isnt the best but think of this way chemo is very important. my grandmother is a survior of lymphoma. As long as you have someone who is there for you and who can help you whenever you need it you can GET THROUGH ANYTHING!!! the problem with chemo is that you might lose feeling in certain parts of your body, for example my grandma lost feeling in her hands and her feet. your blood cells can fluctuate.. hope i helped you let me know if you need anything eles.
