HIFU - Slow Urine Stream Afterward

Hi,

Please don't push, there are no home remedies.  Call your doctor now.  You most probably need a TURP.  And, it won't get better on it's own.

Did you drink so much water you thought you'd float?  Did you use the catheter almost all the time it was in (clamping off for only a couple hours daily?)

 Bummer, I haven't heard of this except in the caution part of the brochure.

Sonoblate. My doctor does think it's the residue of the prostate in there. Whatever it is, it's causing weaker stream than before HIFU. But still urinating and emptying bladder. Just hoping if it is the sludge of the prostate it will come out. Maybe I can get an ultrasound so doctor can see what's in there.

What a drag.  I can empty my bladder like a 17 year old now. 

I wonder if you drank those 48oz a day -- like we needed to after the treatment, if it would water it down, how about hot tea ~ maybe that would help...ultrasound sounds like a good idea...but I'm sure it's a piece that's too big to pass..

I wonder if it's just a strange occurance, or if your doc didn't cook the spots long enough to get ash.  When you had your bag--were there large pieces?

Were you on Flomax for the first month after treatment?  This is why they prescribe it, it relaxes the spincter muscle and allows better flow, so sludge doesn't build up. 

Maybe you should take Flomax now.

I know someone who was proud he could pee on his own and so he kept the catheter clamped all day, but it's there for a purpose, easy access for the ash.

I did take Flomax for a month or so right after HIFU. Yes, I drank massive quantities of water! And I started peeing on day 2, and cath out day 6. Alot of sludge (is it called "ash"?) for a few weeks.  

Good suggestion, and I'll ask my doc if I should try Flomax now.

So I'm hoping that if I need to get this taken care of, they could run a LITTLE tube up urethra, push or pull ash out, and that's that. Or, if it's scar tissue, dialate it and that's that.

"catheter out on day 6"......................that's the problem.

 It's there to provide easy access for the sludge of ash.  It takes a couple weeks to get rid of the ash.

I was anxious to rid myself of it as well, but doc wouldn't, guess I should thank him.

 Damn.  Hope flomax works.  Please let me know.

I am also wondering if the doctor who took your catheter out tested to make sure your bladder was empty before removal, I just don't see how on day 6.   And day 2 peeing??  Should have been day 4, as the bulk of sludge (or ash--I call it that) comes out in the first few days.

Removing the catheter so soon-- I just have litle respect for your doctor, I know my local urologist would have loved for something to go wrong....
