Stamcell harvest

Hello friends,

I just got back from London, to support my friend TJ for his stamcell harvest.
It went really great ! We had to get 2 million stamcells per kilo body weight and on the first harvest we got a whopping 2.4 ! Then the second day his white cell count had doubled, so we expected a far smaller harvest, still came out with 1.65, which means we harvested enough stamcells for 2 whole transplants !!
We're so happy.
He's going on a little holiday first, the main event will be sometime end September.
Bring it on !

Glad to hear the good news! Now everyone can relax for a little while. Hope he has a good break before the SCT!

Thx for all you support, guys. He has a lot of discomfort from the Neupogen though : pains and bowel upsets. But he's of all meds for the next few weeks, so that's a very good thing. And he's learned to flush his own Hickmann line, which is a big deal.

Your friend did very well with his stem cell harvest. I only harvested 2.9 million in 5 sessions. The dr said I had been exposed to too much chemo and I had had the disease too long to get much more. Congrats. Poppy

Ow Poppy... You had to go through the procedure 5 times ? I wish you could have gotten more. I have applied to be a stamcell donor... It's the least I can do.

Hi

My name is Donal and I had a SCT 8 years ago, I have had a lot of medication over the last number of years to maintain my MM, I am now free from all medication except painkillers, I seem to suffer a lot of bone pain, but I can live with that.  I hope this message gives hope to other sufferers out there. I'm now off to play golf.
